Our Events

What is a ghillie?

Traditionally, in Scotland, a ghillie was a servant whose job was to guide on a hunting or fishing expedition. The term ghillie brogues refers to the type of shoes they would wear. The long laces would keep the shoe attached walking through mud, while the holes would allow the water to drain out of them.

Being a ghillie, to us, has a deeper meaning, primarily as a servant to God. In our mission to love and serve Him as a ghillie, we focus our efforts on caring for children. The main way we do that is by operating highland games that raise money and awareness of children’s homes.
